Assemblée Chrétienne de Lyon
Lyon is the second-largest urban area of France (2.3 million inhabitants) located in the country’s east-central part at the confluence of the rivers Rhône and Saône, about 470 km (292 mi) south from Paris, 320 km (199 mi) north from Marseille.
Founded in 43 B.C., the city was the former capital of Gaul, city of the famous elder teacher and church father Ireneus of Lyon and is full of historical sites and buildings. Considered today as the capital of French gastronomy, it is culturally, historically and spiritually the place to be.
It is also a great city to study. With 3 universities and many high level business and engineering schools, Lyon hosts more than 150,000 students from all over the world.
The « Assemblée Chrétienne en Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes » (ACAuRA — Christian Assembly in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) is the name of our Church here. At the end of 2018, it had 48 members. It is lead by a college of leaders amongst whom the evangelist and his wife who lead the team that planted the church in 1994.
On Sundays we meet either in the magnificent Domaine Saint Joseph – 38 allée Jean-Paul II in Sainte Foy-Lès-Lyon – or in house churches all around the city. Our hope is to help people, with the help of the Spirit of Jesus, to understand God’s love and live for and motivated by it.
